Changing the world at the intersection of Design and Biotechnology

Microbial Pigments are the future Dyeing solution.
Nature generates such brilliant colours without polluting water or causing any ecological damage. In the absence of hazardous solvents, microorganisms produce compounds that are synthesized in industrial settings today. Rather than exploiting resources, the goal is to integrate the production of Bio- dyes into a circular system that works in harmony with the natural ecology.
Microbes are now the solution to natural coloration. This universe of microorganisms contains an infinite number of colours and possibilities. Collaboration with microorganisms will allow us to create natural colours that are both bright and environmentally benign.
The project revolves around designing with microorganisms and is driven by the core comprehension of finding alternative dyeing answers for textiles and material industries worldwide. My examination is tied in with extracting colors from bacterial sources; which go about as a sustainable coloring technique. Along with lively shades these naturally sourced pigments are likely to have antimicrobial, antiviral, and anticancer properties, thus extending their utility as a pigment, as well as that of the fabric/ garment.
If the present color system needs to be changed then boundaries need to be pushed, new conversations have to emerge and the need for a multidisciplinary group arises. An amalgamation of science and design is the key to this project, which is practice-based research focused on creative potential. The diversity that it holds is the intersection where the future begins. That shall help me bring these colors to the world; to create a colorful world for humans and the ecosystem; to make it a better place to live for all.

Probably 100 years later we wouldn't be there but textiles would be there to narrate our stories on our behalf. It's the power of this medium to drive us back to the past and straight to the future; absolutely omnipotent. Textiles have traveled from stone-age to the information age, and it has additionally endured race, statement of faith, position with all of this it helped elevate humankind. Textile can help as a powerful medium to create and manifest the "future".
Today's world is a lot more about bringing out diversified solutions and having to look in all directions.
My work is at the intersection of Design and Biotechnology; where with the assistance of organisms we plan and orchestrate designs onto fabric bringing about an astonishingly coordinated effort with microorganisms.
A better future begins when we all work together from different fields, addressing common challenges.
