The Project Crux
Design projects often carry an inherent story that extends beyond materials or aesthetics—they reflect inquiries into user needs, experiences, and futures. For instance, the BioMaterial Library can be framed not just as a collection of experimental samples but as a response to the question: How might biomaterials inform intuitive, sustainable design choices for everyday users? Similarly, the Textile Journal shifts from being a documentation tool to a narrative exploration of: How might designers build accessible knowledge systems that encourage curiosity, learning, and cross-disciplinary dialogue? By reframing such projects through UX narratives, the emphasis moves from output to impact—how these experiments shape user interaction, invite participation, or provoke thought. This narrative approach makes design research more relatable, positioning projects as living inquiries into human behavior, needs, and possibilities, rather than static outcomes. Ultimately, it connects material explorations with meaningful user-centered storytelling.
